Rare film footage capturing motorcycle racing at Cannock Park during Easter 1948. Shot just a few years after the end of the Second World War, this short film offers a fascinating glimpse into post-war motorsport, local crowds, and the machines of the era.
"The late Janet Bird, a long-serving Committee member of the Friends of Cannock Park, graciously granted permission for this film to be used. It was recorded by her late husband, Roland. We respectfully dedicate it to their memory. "

Cannock Park Model Railway (1974-1986)
A wonderful film capturing the much-loved model railway that ran in Cannock Park from 1974 to 1986. We're deeply grateful to the Model Engineering Society, now the Rugeley Power Station Society of Model Engineers, for kindly granting permission for it to be featured on this website.

From 1946 to the early 1990s, the Labour Gala was one of the most memorable events of Cannock’s year. Families gathered along the streets to watch the bright procession of floats, banners, bands, community groups, and visiting politicians winding its way to the park.
For many, it was a day of excitement, pride, and familiar faces — an annual event that endures in the town’s collective memory. A short local news clip (40 seconds) captures the atmosphere; click the link to revisit it.
With many thanks to the Media Archives Central England.
